Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy assists patients in performing activities of all types, like caring for daily needs such as dressing, cooking, and eating. Services typically include: customized treatment programs to improve one's ability to perform daily activities; adaptive equipment recommendations and usage training; and guidance to family members and caregivers. Occupational therapy helps patient of all ages regain, develop, or master everyday skills in order to live independent, productive, and satisfying lives. Occupational therapists assess patients with physical and mental challenges in order to develop activities of daily living (ADL) that work best for those patients. For a patient with a physical disability, the first focus is on performing critical daily activities. Once these skills are mastered, a program is then built around the skills needed to perform more advanced tasks.
